On September 14, 2020, Ministry of Commerce issued a notification in the Thai government gazette on “Banning of electronic waste importation to Thailand B.E. 2563 (2020)” which was effective on September 15, 2020.
“Electronic waste” is defined as electronic equipment parts or fragments, excluding fragments from power generator, that consist of capacitors, batteries, mercury-containing switches, glass fragments from cathode ray tubes, activated glasses, PCB-containing capacitors, or cadmium, mercury and lead-contaminated capacitors which are considered as chemical waste according to List 5.2 (Order 2.18) from DIW Notification: Hazardous Substance Lists B.E. 2556 (2013).
